First, put some silicon grease on the gasket. That just might solve your problem.

What would you recommend?
I greased up my neoprene seal years ago and leaks stopped and easier to break the seal to open it.

They flatten out over time and need to be replaced, I fought a drip in heavy weather that only replacing the gasket remedied. It was a kit where you cut a strip of gasket material and glued the ends together to form a ring, no leaks.
