My sails are pretty effective at slowing the roll of the boat when offshore if the wind is on the beam and blowing at least 10 knots. However, my sail plan is much bigger than most sails I’ve seen on trawlers at about 400 sq feet. Also, the hull on my boat is pretty round like a sailboat so that makes it easier to slow the roll I think.
