2006 Mainship 400 Port Light Leak

Hello,

I noticed signs of a water leak on the port light in the guest area this weekend.

I noticed that there was a rubber seal and it looked a little dry rotted so I am guessing they all are in need of replacement.

Anybody know if these are a part that can be ordered and replaced?

It is probable that nothing will need to be replaced- your port lights appear to be in great shape. Take them out, clean everything really well with acetone and reinstall / reseal with butyl tape.

I have the same thing on mine, tried sealing over it with a clear sealant that an be applied to wet items, helped a little.its called ProSeal 34...problem is it won’t stop raining here until summer for me to properly address it

Is it leaking around the frame or around the gasket? If it is around the frame then remove it and rebed it with butyl as suggested above. If it is around the gasket then you will likely have to replace the gasket. Is the gasket hard, if so that may be the problem.

If you can't do a proper repair job immediately you can do a temp repair using some metal foil tape (like used to seal ductwork joints).
I have had very good success with it for both finding the exact leak source (by applying in sections) and to do a temp seal until I could do the right fix.
Agree you need to ID which is leaking as a first step.
Although, if the gaskets look old & deteriorating replacing might be worthwhile in any case. First step then is to figure out brank & model.
Is there any identifying mfg marks?
In not my Bacchus website and sticky at top of Marliw-MS section has instructions on how to access a large file of MS parts pics with source info.

Its hard to say exactly where its leaking, we opened the window and noted that the knobs were not as tight as they should have been, but there was water under the seal when you lifted a corner of the rubber and the rubber seems done as well, surley the seal is something that can be replaced..

There was a thread on this some time back, and the OP found the gasket material. I think the port lights are Lewmar? So you may be able to ask them.

Hey Doug, I can't seem to find this previous post about the port lights that you mentioned, can you add any more info as this leak is in need of attention soon.

I looked for it too, I clearly remember it, but I can't find it either. It was a discussion about the diameter of the gasket material and where to buy it. Maybe I replied, I'll check my post history.
