I an needing repair work on my boat. It is a custom wooden strip planked covered in fiberglass 47 ft boat. I have a large top side blister that I assume needs grinding out and glassing. I also have some thru hulls/seacocks that need attention. Does anyone have personal experience with a boatyard in or near Hampton Roads that can do this kind of work properly?

Atlantic Yacht Basin might be one yard to call, they are down the Elizabeth River just beyond the locks. I have never used them but understand they have quality carpenters so may be equipped to handle a wooden boat.

A little ways up the Chesapeake off of Mobjack Bay in the East River is Zimmerman Marine, a high quality boat yard.

I'll echo the comments David made about Zimmerman Marine. They have worked on two boats I have owned and done good work. I had the work done in Deltaville but I expect the Cardinal yard is top notch. There is a depth issue there so I'd confirm that before showing up.
