My Deere 4045TFM75 has had the fuel in water alarm go off a couple of times. The first time it went off I drained all the filters and found no evidence of water. The second time I looked a little more closely, and I don't think the sensor is actually in place.

The plug in the picture is on a black wire that connects to the wiring harness on the filter assembly. I'm guessing that it is meant to connect to a sensor at the bottom of the filter, and I don't have that component. The other possibility is that the sensor is in the assembly.

I sprayed wd40 into the plug, thinking it might be the sensor, and no more alarms. But I'd like to know more about this.

Can anyone fill me in?

I put WIF sensors in my Racors. They look different than your photo. Not sure what yours is.
