It is always a pain when a deal comes close then falls apart near the end. It was probably for the best though.

I do have a comment though. In my opinion, it is very difficult to describe a boat which is well over 30 years old as "Bristol" or even close to it. The boat could be described as nice or very nice or even very, very nice but Bristol on a boat that obviously shows some signs of age such as dated electronics, seagull deposits and 18 months of being out of active service is really stretching it.

Thanks! That is what I suspected but like you say, no telling how long the fuel has been in there. I just cant figure out what the procedure would be to fill one tank or the other. Keep me posted. BTW, what do you do with the old fuel in the tank? I have to have the bottom done soon. Can the yard suck it out and inspect the tank?

You can buy or rent fuel drums in many yards depending on how much old fuel you have.
A couple hundred gallons, no problem. There are mobile fuel polishing services who
can clean the fuel in the boat, too. Tank cleaning should be done as part of that process.

Disposing of the old fuel is costly especially in CA. Hopefully it can be polished and used.
I bought an old boat and was able to polish my old fuel with a self-installed filter and pump.

You should have port/starboard fuel caps on the walkways on each side of the boat. The water and fuel cap for the day-tank should both be in the cockpit area. One on each side of the ladder... Shouldn't be more than 100 gallons for that tank. So you could just empty and clean the tanks at the yard as needed. May also be a good time to install an inspection/cleaning port on the engine as well (what I am planning when I get around to it).

Hi! Sorry, I am not really familiar with how this site works and how to respond to the group or just one of you. Had a question on the Princess Stove elements. We have 2 that are out and I can't seem to find any place that carries them any more. Does anyone have a line on where to get these and if not, can I get a replacement for just the range and not the oven?

Hi all,

So, each week I come up with new questions. As far as the fuel, I was told to have my tanks "polished". That this is done by a barge of sorts that sucks and filters all of the fuel multiple times while cleaning the tanks. This process cleans the tanks and the fuel of microorganisms as well as water.

My burning question today is. I want to replace the old entertainment system with zones on fly bridge, rear deck, salon and aft stateroom. Does anyone know if there is a wire harness that runs across the headliner of the main salon? If so, which if any panels come out and how?

Oh, BTW, switched the burners on my 3 burner Princess stove and the other two elements with the one I know works and nothing. Can those be repaired or is it new stove time? If so, is there a compatible stove (I have heard the Force 5) so that I don't have to replace the oven as well?

Just a heads-up... You may want to start your own thread about questions for your boat...

Polishing your fuel can also be done yourself. Just need a diesel rated pump and some filters and hoses to run it all through... Unless you're looking to completely empty the tanks and for them to then clean them with some sort of a "flush", not sure what value paying someone else to circulate your fuel... Keeping up on your reg fuel filters should be more than adequate to "clean your fuel. Maybe add some tank additive to clean them and then replace filters as needed... Unless the fuel sits for long periods of time, it should be fine...

As far as wiring, for the most part they run up to the flybridge through the walls on each side of the boat. Go up top and look to the left right, you should see all the wiring going in/out. Those tubes were pretty full when I got the boat. I was able to find quite a bit of old unused wire that I could remove to make some room... Nothing for the "entertainment system" on my boat was stock and even if it was, I would not have used any sort of wiring harness to connect into... OLD wiring presents way too many "hmmm, what's causing "XYZ" to happen now?"

Your stove may or may not be able to be repaired, just depends on how much effort/money you want to put into it...
I replaced mine with a Force10 CERAMIC GLASS TOP 3 BURNER OVEN BROIL 120V. Heats up both the surface and oven VERY fast!!! Direct fit, slides right in... If your patient you may be able to find one used for 1/2 or less. I got lucky with mine. The guy I got mine from just bought his boat and was switching to gas. The previous owner had just put the Force10 in ~6 months prior. When I got it, it may have been used 1/2 dozen times, looked brand new! I think I paid around $400 or so for it (a STEAL!!!)...

Anyway, if you start a new thread, let me know and I'd be happy to jump on that one to answer any more questions that pop up for you...

Thank you for all the help. I am still trying to figure this site out. It is not exactly intuitive. Would be happy to start a thread if I can figure out how to do that. One last question, my boat has a list to port, maybe an inch or two. I can't figure out what it would be. I have not added anything and maybe it has been that way. There is a second anchor in the port transom lazurette that I can move to starboard and in the closet on the starboard side in the aft stateroom, there is about 30' of chain coiled up on the floor, I would guess for ballast. Kind of vexed by this.

Honestly I wouldn't fool around with a "wired" sound system. Get a couple good bluetooth speakers instead.
