RE: Boats' automated fog signals

We have a problem brewing the UK with regard to the IMO compliancy of fog horns. In other words, do they meet the COLREGS requirements of boats over 12m?

Three UK leisure boat manufacturers are...

RE: Simrad IS15 Wind Transducer

Thanks for this. In the meantime I created such a noise about this that Simrad came up with a solution. Bit complex but it's been fitted and I just need to check it's working.

If not, I'll be back...

RE: Caliber of flare gun

We used to do this in the UK, but there are now some European countries (France. for example) that if Customs finds outdated flares on board they fine you heavily. We used to carry many of our...

RE: Engine transplant Fiat (IVECO) out Gardner 6LXB in

From everything I've ever heard and seen about Gardner engines is that they are 'beautiful'. Boats fitted with Gardners will rot to bits before the engines need replacing.

A lady ex-dentist I know...

RE: Caliber of flare fun

In Europe we cannot carry a flare gun without a fireams certificate which is well nigh impossible to get.

To fire the SOLAS flares we keep on board, we keep a heavy leather gardening glove to...

RE: Boats' automated fog signals

So which horns would you choose? The K series doesn't need an air reservoir or separate compressor, just the in-line on demand compressor, and is OK up to 20m and the least expensive. Going beyond...

In the UK, Simrad is out of stock and likely to stay that way for a few months.

Anyone know if I can buy one in the USA?

Thanks for the help.

There's a yacht in Diver marina called "sing in the wind". On closer examination there's the maths symbol for pi in front of the sing, making the name 'pising in the wind'. Really clever and you've...
