2003 Silverton 43 Motor Yacht - Saltwater Taffy
While most do not consider a Silverton a trawler, you can certainly cruise at 8 knots just like one and yet, when you need to go fast at 20 knots to make a bridge opening or outrun some bad weather - you can do so.
My wife and I cruised over 6,000 miles on the great loop in a Monk 36. That was a great trawler for that purpose. However, when we stopped for awhile and “lived” aboard as we did for 2-weeks in Key West and 3-weeks in Marathon, we found that we needed more space and more livability. Once we got the Silverton we used her just like a trawler and cruised back down to the Keys and then spent a Winter aboard in the Bahamas.
With her cavernous interior, at anchor or at a dock, you would feel like you were in a condo. The 43 is a big boat for her length. It has an amazing flybridge and aft deck which we call the “back porch”. It’s salon is expansive with wraparound cabin windows, light cherry woodwork, and high ceilings - giving one the impression of being in a much bigger boat. Both staterooms are fitted with queen berths and both heads are split to separate the shower stalls from the toilets. Whether cruising as a couple or with guests aboard you are in the boat that can accommodate all of your cruising dreams.
A total canvas refit was completed in November 2018. The forward and aft windscreens are of the hard, non-roll type, plastic (I don’t recall the technical name) (these fold back up along the enclosure top) and the others are of Eisenglass)
