That's a great boat with the Cummins (or anything but the GMC). As I understand they're a 'sleeper', quite capable, roomy, and well made but just never got the following that others did. Monk designs seem to always work well. The ONLY issue I've ever heard with RW is that earlier ones had plywood cabins, later (I think after about '76) they went all FG.

Not sure this is the same boat, however, it confirms your comments regarding the construction and the weak point of these boats. Monk designed a really sea kindly hull with the Roughwater, it is the plywood that is a fault.

Yes I will get up some pictures... it has taken a bit to put up yhis post. This boat is Kaniksu... my summer cruise to Alaska has been eclipsed by family needs back east. Had a great trip last summer up past the north end of Vancouver Island
