Updates

Got the handrails installed on the front.
Dodged a major storm after a lot of prep.

But the Range Four was an updated version of that engine with a little more power NA.
Finally got around to calling Charley to catch up on a number of things, and asked again about this. He confesses that he cannot remember for sure whether it was the Range 4, although he thinks it was. He was dead certain that they started designing with the assumption it'd be powered with the 135 hp Perkins.

He ruminated about where the market subsequently went for so-called trawler-style yachts, thinking that they could have designed the West Indian for enough power to climb out of the hole and run at 12 kt. or better. I seem to recall that a few owners later turned to re-powering their W.I.s with more powerful sixes, e.g. a Yanmar and maybe a Cummins 5.9 natural.

Range 4 engine?

Not sure what engine it is. I run it at 1700 rpms. Had to do 1900 going up the Mississippi River before (bad planning on my part).

Like the ad. Wondering if the boat is as alluring in real life. If it and we are still around when the USA figures out how to deal with this virus I want to go see it.

One thing I see that would probably would turn me off at your price point is that there are no stantions or pulpit on the boat. Last time I checcked that would be a $3,000-5.000 addition. Rails are nice for add safety for anyone on deck to anchor as well as a good place to hang fenders from. As the boat sits, were are fenders attached when docking?

Trawler

Thanks for the view. I’m trying to upload another picture of the front of the boat with a pulpit with the windless.
