Would you take a vaccine released without testing?

It appears that the American Administration is planning to release an untested vaccine before the election without completing Stage 3 trials. Would you take it?

Speaking for myself, I would have to consider how credible the Administration is and how independent the FDA and CDC are before making any decision. IMHO it all boils down to trust. For instance, you couldn’t pay me to get the Russian vaccine!

Since taking a vaccine between now and November will not allow me to do anything that I can't do now due to everyone else's behavior, I don't see any sense in taking it.

From what I read today anyway we are last on the list for the vaccine. First responders, those with underlying issues, those already ill, teachers and even school children come before us. So I don't believe it will be available to us until well into next year.

They won't release a vaccine until enough information from the current trials are in. The protocol for the trials is a typical two-year plan - but most trials do not go to full term. Usually, enough info comes out showing the vaccine is working, or not, fairly early. From what I've heard (friends at CDC), the current trials are looking good, and if enough results show at least a 50% effective rate, a vaccine could indeed be approved around year-end. No one is pushing them - let the science work.

im still waiting for the Cold vaccine .
and you really think a vaccine will happen
If it does great but
did they get a vaccine for SARS??

The virus back in 1918 >20 happened
Tons of people working on it at the time but it mutated and became weaker and people got it could lived with it .
Back then they didn't do a lot of things to slow its growth and the numbers at the start went sky high with infection and deaths but once they saw it mutating and becoming not the killer as much anymore
The researchers moved on to something different that was going to make more money.
isolate keep you distance from others
the second wave has started with younger people are not doing this.
i hope they do get the vaccine

My understanding of vaccine testing is rudimentary at best. My take is:
Phase 1: Small number of test subjects. Does it kill anyone and do they get some type of immune response?
Phase 2: Primary goal is to make sure that it is safe on a wide variety of test subjects. Are there any significant complications or negative reactions from the vaccine. Secondly, do they seem to elicit an immune response.
Phase 3: Large scale testing primarily to determine if the vaccine is effective at reducing the infection rate.

The vaccines they are talking about will have gone through Phase 2 testing. In my mind it would be safe. The problem is that we don’t know if it is effective or not. I would feel safe taking a vaccine that went through phase 2 testing, but would not take it unless it was part of a formal Phase 3 trial.

Phase 3 includes enough time to gauge side effects. Pretty critical.

We don`t have one(as such) but I`m sure as we speak the Mods are hard at work creating a" Politics Only, No Boating Discussion" section they will happily moderate. It will be a thing of beauty.

I have no intention of being a Beta tester for a vaccine for an illness that they haven't yet developed a reliable test to see if I have already had it or not.
One test is showing 30% false positive, undisclosed percentage false negative, while here in Florida, many of T he testing centers have proven unreliable.
No thanks.

The FDA and CDC are too close to Pharma, and even with the regular crop of vaccines there are safety problems. That's why there is a "vaccine" court that pays out Billions for adverse reactions to vaccines for "side effects" that include death.

Imagine a product that can cause life long disability or death, even if its only a very small % of the population, imagine that Doctors are so trained to believe vaccines are "safe" that they do no screening whatsoever, and often break the safety rules when it comes time to "catch up" or administer to a sick patient because "you're here."

Now imagine no liability for vaccine adverse reactions at all, and that you get to do all the studies yourself and that the Board that ultimately recommends the vaccine for distribution are all vaccine industry types with a financial stake in vaccines.

Not me, No, Hell NO

Dr Fauci who seems the go to guy on this subject is satisfied with much of the vaccine testing and release dates. He may possibly have more knowledge on this subject than the collective wisdom of we TFites.

I will get one when testing is complete. I am in the so-called "vulnerable" age group, and a big believer in vaccines, but I can continue practicing the 3 W's in the meantime. Even when an acceptable one comes out, I probably still will follow the behaviors, as a very large percentage of the US doesn't even get a flu shot. Sometimes I feel a more up-to-date motto for the US would be "The Land Of Magical Thinking".

I suppose one question I have is when to get my flu shot. Does it need to be spaced away from the Covid shot by a period of time to minimize any complications? Was thinking mid to late September for flu and likely at least November to Feb for Covid if available at all. Also, I am hearing that the pneumonia vaccine is somewhat protective for Covid. If tru should I get a booster of that one as well?
