For the sake of our Canadian friends, it`s sad to read that. I`d no idea the virus had ramped up so much. A grim reminder of the "rooster today, feather duster tomorrow" syndrome, let our guard drop and there are consequences. At that level of infections, tracing and thereby regaining control must be nigh impossible.

Deflection? Yes, others are worse off, look at Europe, UK,as well as USA but 2700 new cases in a pop of 38M is a lot of sick people. Could be worse, could be better, how and why? Australia had 18 new cases yesterday in a pop of 26M. That can change in an instant, insularity is a disease advantage but an economic disadvantage if this doesn`t get fixed. Contagion seeps through non sea borders. A tough lockdown worked in Victoria state here, but would Canada accept a night curfew as part of a lockdown? It has to do something, imho. Please take care. Inaction will not work.

No deflection. A simple stating of fact to put the previous post in perspective.

Yes, 2700 is a lot but still about 1/3 of US cases as a percentage of population.

Quite simply, new cases as a pure number are not necessarily bad. Rate changes, death counts and populace awareness seem more relevant. Canada is doing much right for keeping the spread down and focusing on protection for the most at risk.

Unfortunately funding, politicization and chest thumping deflect laymen and professionals alike from grasping and putting into effect wonderful efforts and findings that are the foundations for muting CV19. An interesting follow is use of the vaccine in Brazil. Two important Brazilian leaders are a case in point, one saying wait until spring for more trials on vaccine A while another says do it now with "proven" and in use vaccine B.
