• Trawler Forum Classified Posting Guidelines
    • We expect ads placed to be related to the topic of this forum.
    • Ads that are inactive for 180 days or longer may be moved to the Classified Archive and locked. Ads may be relisted if the item is still current. Alternatively, owners may contact a Moderator to reinstate an archived ad.
    • The Classified section is for advertising, members are asked to refrain from posting discussions to a Classified Ad. Please start a discussion thread or PM the owner for discussions.
    • Do not hijack another member's ad by posting unsolicited commentary. Example: if a member has posted an ad offering an anchor for sale, don't add a post to his thread stating that you have an anchor you'd like to get rid of also. Posts deemed as unsolicited commentary may be removed.
    • For your own security, do NOT include your e-mail or phone number in your ad. Instead request that interested parties contact you via PM (private message) to provide owners contact info.
    • Brokers, Dealers, or those with a commercial interest in a sale are prohibited from posting in Classifieds.
    • Only Trawler Forum Commercial Members may post ads in the Commercial section. You must be a designated Commercial Member to start threads in this section of the forum. (Contact a moderator if you have questions about this)
    • Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay, Craigslist or Yachtworld, etc. unless it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price
    • Location
    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad. Ads may be moved or removed by our staff at any time for any reason. All ads must comply with site rules. Thanks for your cooperation.
  • Avoid Scams.

Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or feels wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers agents and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.

Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.

Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.

Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
    • No posts or very few forum posts.
    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

Looking for a Tug/Trawler that I can tow with my F-150 with 11,000 lb. max tow capacity.
Ranger R-25 or R-27 or something similar comes to mind.

Thanks,
Ken

There's a couple of threads going recently discussing this, though your weight range is lighter than some other requests.

Cutwater alternative to the Ranger should also be looked at.

C-Dory really isn't a trawler or tug but is often mentioned.

But, a couple of things to ask yourself and others...all the normal (but smaller versions of) features of a galley needed or desired, or not?

How many people should she sleep comfortably? This is where the Ranger and Cutwaters shine over most if not all others in this class (non-cruiser), if you want true berths for three or four people without folding down a table.

Do you care whether inboard, outboard, or IO drive...diesel, or gasoline powered? Built-in AC power generation? For that matter, air conditioning?

Most in this size are planing vessels instead of more traditional tugs. There are trailerable pocket trawlers with more of a displacement hull, but they are either much larger while still being technically trailerable, or becoming dated. For years I wanted an Albin 25 or the older gen. Albin 27 FC, but never found one I liked in the area that I was looking (Great Lakes at the time.)

Rosborough 26 is a way cool little boat. Outboard engine would be my choice, but comes in I/O too

Saw this last week at Friday Harbor WA just thought it was neat.

I have a Ranger tug R25 2009 with 400 hours on it. She is totally enclosed with a canvas cockpit, every option even satellite tv. Includes 2 axle trailer and a Zodiac dinghy with a yamaha 2.5hp 4 stroke outboard. All 5 trailer tires are less then a year old. Price is 115000 for the whole package. . I tow it easily with a Ford 150 Any interest (231) 675-2605

That's undeniably a Sam Devlin design boat in the photo. Sam designs/builds beautiful boats that are as rugged as they get. Google Devlin Designing Boatbuilders and you'll be awed by his designs. He occasionally has used boats available. Check out his website.
Sam is located in Olympia, Washington and his boats are all over the world.

Two very interesting ones that you should check out if they ever happen to pop up. Which is very infrequent.

If you’re still looking, I have a Cutwater C26 2015 with trailer. The engine had 364 hours and boat is in bristol condition (excellent). Many extras. Text for photos and details: 518-321-8608

I don't know if the OP is still looking (would be nice to find out what he chose if he did).

Just a note: A buddy bought a new 2018 F-150 all decked out for towing. Tow package, integral brake controller, extra wide mirrors, larger fuel tank. In other words, pretty much anything you could add to make it better for towing.

Turns out, the hitch itself was pretty minimal, IMO. And it was only rated for 1,000# tongue weight. So just something to think about, since it's rated for 11,000#. (He later traded it in for an F-250 and the hitch was what you'd expect - tied back into frame etc. more obviously.)

The F-150 was great to drive. I'd just be a bit loath to get up near limits on it, especially if you have a lot of tongue weight. For example many travel trailers trailers have closer to 15% tongue weight, which on 11,000# would be 1,650# and well over limit. Of course on boats it's potentially easier to adjust that by shifting the boat or wheel carriage on the trailer as long as it all still adds up correctly for trailer dynamics.

PS: Crandola, out of curiosity, do you know the tongue weight on your Cutwater, when loaded for cruising/traveling?

Sorry. No idea.

There’s a Rosborough 246 with trailer for sale in Juneau if anyone wanted the bother and expense of putting it on the ferry or a transport back down (or moving to SE Alaska. )
