What size? To cruise how many folks? What endurance?

Most "trawlers" are fine for lakes, bays and rivers , only a very few are OK far offshore.

Motor sailors do not have the volume of a powerboat unless large , 50+ ft or more.

Tell us what your desirements are.

Would prefer the southeast US coastal area plus the west coast of Florida; but we will consider any location.

We are looking for a motorsailer with diesel engine 50 hp or under, preferably 2 berths or a salon table that creates a sleeping space, shallow draft keel, sloop rig, length 32'-36'. Essentially, we will need to sleep 3 people comfortably. Fiberglass hull. No composting head. Under $75K.
Thanks for your interest.

I see Nicholasville as your city. Thus thinking Kentucky.

There are a couple that have been for sale for years that you could pick up and fix up.
There is a Mariner 38 at Counce, TN.
and Nauticat 33 Demopolis, AL.

Thank you for sending the 2 listings. I have checked them out but unfortunately, they have deep water keels. We plan to be cruising down the southeast ICW for several months. Having a 5 ft keel would pose a problem. No plans to take her outside or make any passage. Therefore, we hope to find something with 4' or less. But thanks for responding. If you should find anything else, please forward them on. I'll take a serious look. Thanks.

Ahoy Capt Chuck!

Shucker would tick your boxes nicely.

Good luck.

The usual rule of thumb is the draft is 1/7 of the LWL.

So a 28ft waterline would have 4 ft of draft to be able to go to windward properly.

There is a Fisher for sale at Stingaree Marine in Boliver, Texas. Ask for Jim.
