Inflatable Dinghy Wanted NE-NJ,PA,NY,MD, and DE
We are looking for a starter Dinghy for our Starter "Trawler".
We are not retired and don't cruise much.
Our default is a Costco $650 and 9.9 hp 4 stroke.
Many recommend a Mercury 15-- 2 stroke.
I fell in love with 4 stroke outboards and would have a hard time going back to the smell.
My wife doesn't like fast boats and I figure the 9.9 would push a 11' around 15 knots which would please the skipper.

Question is are you going to be able to handle the size and weight of the dinghy and motor in your usage?

Smitty,
You could be right. I will probably struggle then over engineer a solution then buy a bigger boat.

I would opt for smaller, and more manageable in a tender.
Best,

We are looking for a starter dinghy too.
I'd give thought to what kind of floor your dinghy will have.
air floor vs wood or Al slats or a RIB.
We're in NE and leaning towards a RIB for protection from rocky shorelines.
also have a big dog.
We have a 9'6" beam so a 9 looks like what we are focusing on.
Hope this helps and good luck

We are going with a rib as it offers more stability for my wife. We have a Zodiac w wood floor and it is serviceable but it is time for an upgrade. Will be posting the zodiac on Craigslist in the next few weeks once we get the new one.

Think about where and how you will store it, and how you get it there. If it involves removing and refitting the motor, think about its weight and where it stores.
