Pacific trawler 40 for sale

It’s time for SPIRIT BEAR to move to her next caretaker. She is a single-stateroom version of the 40’ Pacific Trawler. This option, along with her full-beam salon layout opens up the salon to allow not only excellent salon living, but a large and completely equipped galley as well. She is outfitted for both Pacific Northwest cruising (including diesel heat) AND cruising in more temperate climates. She is equipped for underway operation in stocking feet from the warm, dry pilothouse, a covered cockpit to shield you from the sun and rain, and a bimini and cushions for the flying bridge when it’s toasty and sunny. She has screens on all windows, and air conditioning when the temperature and/or bugs drive you indoors!

Powered by a single mechanically-controlled John Deere diesel engine, she achieves her nominal 8.5-knot cruising speed at 1400 RPM on 3.7 gallons per hour, including generator time. Fully self-contained, SPIRIT BEAR is an Alaskan and British Columbia vet, having easily circumnavigated Vancouver Island, and poked through much of the northern coast of BC and Southeast Alaska. Her storage capacity, 6KW auxiliary generator, diesel heat, range (almost 1000 nm at 8 kts), watermaker, and general amenities make her an ideal couple’s boat with occasional guests. With a large rudder and a powerful bow thruster, close-quarter maneuvering is easily accomplished.

She is stored in covered moorage in Everett, WA, and includes a folding mast and boom to reduce her air draft and provide dinghy launch from the boat deck. Once launched, the boat deck provides a terrific summertime lounge area. In addition, her staple-equipped open cockpit allows easy dinghy entry and exit, and single-level access to the entire boat. Rigorously maintained by her owner, SPIRIT BEAR is turn-key ready. Load your stores and clothes, and push off!

She is listed with Waterline Boats in Seattle (, where her full specifications, asking price of $219,000, and numerous photographs can be found. Please contact Gretchen Miles at (425-231-0344) or

Mr. jp. Best of luck with your sale. Two items: On the opening page of your link the only Pacific 40 PH is marked "sold" although inside the site it is listed as being for sale. Might want to have that changed.
Although not interested due to location, I don't frequent any sites that require me to sign in, in order to review pictures but that's just me.

Sounds like a really well outfitted and maintained boat. Here is a link to the listing
BTW, never liked boatshed as they make you sign in before you can look at pics, I just dismiss anything listed with boatshed.

So, this boat will not be available on Yachtworld? That really reduces the marketing envelope.

ALOT! I hate those sites that make you sign up just to look at pictures.

As others have mentioned, I don't sign up to view boats for sale.

I'm tired of fast moves, I've got a slow groove, on my mind.....
I want to spend some time, Not come and go in a heated rush.....

If you use the link above to go to the listing you can read the text. It does sound like a really well outfitted boat.

At least one contributor is looking for a boat but hates "sign up for a look" sites. Maybe the OP could direct the broker to advertise elsewhere as well. Collecting inquirer info is to benefit the site and/or broker, not the seller.

I 2nd, 3rd, or 5th the "I don't register to look at boats for sale" sentiment. If I find one I'm really interested in, I have no problem signing up, but for first looks, no way. A site that requires me to register just to look at some pictures is a "No sale" in my mind. I get enough spam already.

Sellers should keep this in mind.

This is the same reason that when I am first looking to buy a car and haven't narrowed down the choices, I only go to the car dealerships when they are closed.

I think you should consider donating your boat so it could be where Spirit Bears actually live. We would be honoured to caretake it for you, and use it often to search the shores of Princess Royal Island and Douglas Channel so it could be with it’s namesake

Hmmm... she checks a lot of our boxes and we may have to go see her. The open transom is a design that gives me pause, particularly in a following sea.
Anyone have experience with that design? How about Pacific Trawlers, any conventional wisdom or experience?
