32-36' trawler wanted

East coast location, preferably Northeast, optimal would be Monk/GB/IG, other makes fine but has to be walk-around decks. Single engine preferred, and the less teak the better!

Trawler Wanted

I will advise to find a good local broker that can keep a better eye on the market...that's what I did. Most nice used boats are being sold before listing or shortly thereafter...the boats you see that have been for sale awhile are still for sale for a reason. Know what you want and be quick to act if it comes up. You will know if it the right deal for you! Best of luck...BTW...I am new owner of a Monk 36.

That is really good advice, which I am quickly learning, unfortunately. The market was very different the last time we bought a boat, several years ago. We used a broker in Maryland, because he had the listing for our favorite, and we liked him a lot, but I would love to find someone closer, because all the driving back and forth past Annapolis got tiring pretty fast! Looks like you are in NJ, I am in NYC, anyone you had a good experience with? Did you get your Monk through a broker? I am jealous, I've always thought it would be the best combination of attributes for us.

I dealt with Greg Gehlman at Seattle Yacht Sales in Annapolis. I live in lower Delaware. He is a very nice young guy...I would probably still be looking if not for him. I missed out on two that came for sale last summer because I couldn't get there fast enough. With his help, third time was the charm!

Thanks again! I may contact the broker I worked with before, who was also based near Annapolis, but I will also check Seattle Yacht. I never did before because I probably assumed from the name that they were in the PNW.
I am still considering a boat I saw in RI, but it has been for sale for a while, and as you said there are reasons for that!
Enjoy your boat!

Thanks to everyone for all the help and suggestions. Ironically I just got a lead to the exact boat I have been looking for, but just as an unexpected medical issue has forced u to put our search on hold, at least for now.
