Boat junkyard list

I thought about entitling this "Marine junkyard list," but that seems to encompass too wide a definition.

So why not have a sticky post for this topic? List your local one here.

I recently wandered through this place, and despite the name, it's all about boats:

Southern Cross Ships Chandlery (no apostrophe missing, BTW)
103 Myrick Street
Pensacola, FL 32505

850-377-1776

southerncrossmarineservices.com
info@southerncrossmarineservices.com

The proprietor said that if he did not have it in stock he would gladly take calls and search his contacts for the item.

I saw no engines, but there was plantyof recovered teak, bow rails, railings, older electronics, and on, and on.

Marine Salvage - California

Marine salvage businesses seem to have waned over the years. 25-years ago, Minneys Marine Salvage in Newport Beach was a cornucopia of useful stuff. Now, seems the gear is dated - folks want new.

But here are two California options:

1. Minneys Yacht Surplus Newport Beach CA (HERE)
2. Blue Pelican in Oakland/Alameda (SF Bay) (HERE)

Must be a bear to manage cashflow with inventory sitting for so long. They seem to have many more people who want to sell them stuff than purchase.

If you're near Fort Pierce, FL these guys have lots of new and used.

Marine Connection Liquidators

As with any place offering deals new and used, it's important to know what stuff sells for. Lots of good deals to be had, but not everything is a deal.

I can vouch for Marine Engine Salvage in Stockton, CA. I've been buying boats and service there for 30 years.

Ken's Marine Supply, Gulfport, MS. They have an eclectic selection of new, NOS, used, military surplus stuff. Lots of used props.

It's not a junk yard. Everything is organized, but prices are good.
