Sewing Machine

Looking for a relatively portable sewing machine for general marine canvas work.

A Sailmaker - Read's or Sailrite - is a first choice, but will consider other well built machines up to the task as well - Sailrite, Pfaff, Singer, etc.

Any advice /experiences with particular machines would be appreciated as well

Welcome aboard TF
Here's an old thread worth reading.
Might be best to continue there vs starting many related posts.

I also posted a DIY Canvas Seminar in the Library - Miscellaneous section

If you go the Sailright route I'd suggest the monster wheel is a good option / upgrade.

Will this be for on the boat or at home? For on the boat I would stick with a small Sailrite and a big wheel. For home I would get what you want to afford. I use a Consew RB and its not a bad machine, if I had a few more $$ I would buy a PFAFF or NC. There are a few places that sell refurbished used machines that may be worth looking into.
