Sidney marina is such a great stop.
Right up the ramp and just a very short walk is both a nice grocery store and liquor store (hereafter called the essentials) Stock up on groceries first, then take your cart into the liquor store, then down to the marina. They pick them up from there. How great is that!
Main Street has everything one could need and is really clean and well maintained!

Frank I almost went into Squitty Bay in a 40 knot gale but passed it up seeing about 40 sailboat masts. Went to Boho Bay instead.

Nice docks and a park setting with great walking trails.
Neither of these had power or water.
You will soon qualify as a "local" in so many places. I have been going past Squitty for over 40 years and have never stopped in. Have to correct that.
While you were enjoying sunshine in Prideaux, we were getting drenched in the Gulf Is.
Keep the pix coming.

If you enjoy Greek food, Maria’s Souvlaki is tough to beat. Family place.

Where do you plan to be this weekend? We have a 3-day FRI/SAT/SUN and it would be great to shake your hand and say hello in-person!

Thanks. Since my last post, we have been looking at the wind predictions for this weekend...but I think the chances of intercepting you on your itinerary are low.

We were planning to anchor at Sucia, but it won’t be very relaxing if the predictions ring true.

Will look at the models again tomorrow night.

Eric was likely passing Squitty during our YC annual mess of sail with kids cruise. Good group to leave as they tend to take over whatever snug they are in.

Frank, with Fulford on your agenda, check out Russel Island at the mouth. Marine park so go ashore and explore.

We were on our way to Alaska w the little Albin. Was a rough ride out there that day. Saw all the masts and decided I wanted none or it. I knew it was a very small chuck.

Checked into customs at Friday Harbor and spent the evening Tuesday.
Must say the customs officers treated me very respectfully and were quite helpful! Very professional. I’ve had bad experiences over the years both coming and going but this office was awesome.
I like Friday Harbor, it’s a funky lil hamlet and great place to walk around! The marina is awesome as well with everything from low end old relics to hi end yachts. I love the mix!

Last 2 nights in Bellingham. Trip over Wednesday was flat calm. This is a huge harbour with a lot of boats! Turned out both friendlier a less $$ than expected. Big chandleries and a ton of marine services. Headed back to Friday Harbor today. IRENE, where are you?

Good Morning...

We are on the boat this morning. Will see what happens with this predicted blow this morning. We have an attractive window to depart around noon for Friday Harbor, hope to head that way...

I’m just looking at today and next few days...
I may make the call and continue up to Salt Spring island if the going is good as I’m to meet folks in Montague Harbour on Monday.
Weather certainly dictates travel in the fall.
Will update

Understood. The winds do not appear favourable (please note Canadian spelling) for the Friday Harbor/Saltspring run tomorrow or Sunday...

Well, the boss just made the call to remain attached to the dock today.

I am sorry you are so close and we will not cross paths. We will have another opportunity...

Yes.... we are both active so there will definitely be more opportunities!
Tied up in Ganges harbour on Salt Spring at 4:15. Pretty easy trip, mostly very calm and tide with. Bucked it hard for a while at the top of San Juan Island but other than that, not too bad considering..
Long day, tired, will be an early night!

Just back from a little walk before packing it in..
Kind of a nice evening picture walking back down the docks..
I’m liking this place. Stores and restaurants handy to the dock, and a farmers market on Saturday if it’s still going this late. Will find out tomorrow.
