Insurance issue

We've owned the boat about 5 years now but have not done much traveling with it. This year we plan to do start time cruising back up the East Coast.

We had insurance with Foremost, Grand Rapids, MI, up to now. It's always bothered me that their premium is about one fourth of what BoatUS has quoted for the same coverage, cash value, except that BoatUS includes fuel spill coverage.

Has anyone had any experience with this company? If you want to keep your comments private, PM me.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob:

All I can say is that you really need a marine policy. Environmental liability is only one of several marine specific risks that non marine insurers don't cover. Talk to a marine broker: either Jack Martin in Annapolis or IMIS in Grasonville, Md and maybe others about the differences.

Look at all coverage amounts, inclusions and exclusions. The hull coverage is just a small part of the equation but the one always quoted.
