ST-42. Access to water heater & below galley

I have accessed the area below the galley via taking out the guest head cabinet but just wondering if there is an easier way. Through the stairs? Or, through the floorboards above?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Four screws on top of each step 2 on L 2 on R
