My 6LY2a UTE won’t stop. I found a wire coming from the same harness that goes to the stop solenoid that has become disconnected but I can’t figure out where it’s supposed to go. See attached pictures. The wire is dangling to the left in the first two picture taken of the area around the solenoid. Third photo is top down. It may not be the cause but I wanted to start here. I’m also looking for the relay for the stop solenoid - not finding it near the solenoid or the stop button. Any hints?

It looks like the post to the right of the hitch pin in your second picture is a good possibility, considering the wire length and insulation. Not certain, but it may have had a second nut that vibrated loose. It's been a while since I worked on that engine. If you compare it to Charlie's picture, it looks like that is indeed where it goes. It looks like green/black wire and ground post makes sense.

Charlie, Bob,

Thanks for the info. Picture is the best lead yet, but i can’t seem to zoom in well enough to see three rubber protected cables that come out of the harness. Thanks for the ops manual. I also have the tech manual with wiring diagrams, and an online parts manual, but neither of these ties all the info together.

Bob- I thought that pin may be a grounding post as well (I’m assuming the green wire mens it’s a ground wire), but it has a screw on it already, and there’s a very small wire leading to the right that’s already attached. Interestingly the wiring diagram in the front of the tech manual does not list any ground or green wires on the stop solenoid circuit. I guess I can give it a shot and see what happens. Will fill you into tomorrow.

The wiring diagram.

Bob328 - now I see what you’re looking at. I’ll find a nut and make it happen!
