I met a guy today who ran his Lehman 120 for 10 miles on nothing but vegetable oil. Owned the boat for several years after and never a problem.

Rudolph Diesel's original invention ran on peanut oil. Diesels can be quite catholic in their fuel tastes.

The long term problems tend to be things like fuel solidifying at relatively high temperatures compared to diesel, loss of power, and coking the injectors over the long term.

But yeah, in the short term it will work fine in a simple diesel.

The bif hassle is when you inadvertantly get 5% "bio diesel".

This WILL strip much of the gunk in a fuel tank and system .

A new boat should be clean , but older boats better carry cases of filters.

After an accidental 5% bio fuel fill ,IS a great time for a fuel polishing pump and filter setup.
