Can someone tell me where the water temperature sensor is located on a ‘77 MerCruiser 454? Thanks

A very long life for a gasser. I had the same engine, a rebuild but eventually it had to be replaced. Has your engine been fresh water only? There are three Virmilion's listed, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois.

I’m 99% certain it’s been fresh water the whole time. I think I’m the 4th or 5th owner. At one time it was registered in Kentucky but I do t think it’s never seen salt water.

It's either on the side of the cylinder head near the spark plugs, or the front of the intake manifold near the thermostat.

I know there's a lot of knowledgeable folks on here and I do appreciate the feedback but isn't there anyone out there that knows for sure where this temperature sensor goes? It's important for me to locate the old ones and replace them.

Yes, he did and I appreciate it. I was just trying to get a little more definitive answer. I'm trying to not go digging around and taking too much apart to find it. Thank you.
