I know most boat owners hope the engine will outlast their ownership , but sometimes a rebuild becomes necessary.

The gas folks have it easiest , a new short block, move the "marine" stuff and its year one again.

For years auto guys would rebuild to gain whatever "performance" the were looking for.

Here is a source of Diesel rings that might work better than the factory stuff , should someone get involved enough.

No reason the lighter duty matinizations cant be made more efficient.

Other than the obvious differences in cooling/exhaust systems, what does the term "marinized" mean to the industry in describing marine diesels?

Al, rather than show my lack of knowledge of a subject, I'll give you a link to the pros.

Seems there's a lot more to 'marinizing' than meets the eye!*

Most of that self serving story is "may be required".Read carefully its not JUST a diesel conversion.

Different style starters and alts on GASOLINE , but not usually diesels unless its air start or Hyd start.

Belt guards , perhaps some legal decision.

Intake Manifold , not on a diesel , exhaust , sure if dry stack is not the choice,

For gen sets the "best" (Yanmar or Kubota) oil pans are used on reefer trucks , triple or more the capacity , so Joe Trucker doesn't have to add oil for 10 days.
