Perkins 6.354 Heat Exchangers

My Perkins 6.354 heat exchangers are 11" in length but I can only find replacements either 9" or 14". Since the 9" model will fit, will it provide enough cooling in California waters?

Are these the oil and transmission coolers? Or the hx core for a multi cooler?

These are the actual sea/fresh water heat exchangers, as pictured in the attached link from Mr. Cool.

You will lose 2/11 of your cooling capacity with the 9" tubes. But the waters off of SoCal are generally cool and you should be ok. Keep an eye on your temperature gauge on a hot day at the end of summer to be sure.

I recently removed the dual Serk cooler from my old Perkins 6.354 and replaced with the following Mr Cool unit. Works a treat in tropical waters.

17-1/2" Overall Length.12" Bundle. 3/4'' npt oil, 3/8'' npt transmisson oil

1-1/8'' seawater connection.

I've been running the 9" heat exchangers in Florida with no issue. I tend to run below 1800 rpm. I wish I could get a PN for the O rings on that heat exchanger.
