The diesel fuel on the SSBN627 was about 20+years old when the sub was decommissioned. The volume of the tank and amount used I dont remember. I dont even remember if it was a "hard tank" or a "soft tank"....

I have a 30' Tollycraft with twin Volvo diesels and unfortunately it has been sitting in the marina for 10 months without being run. Being new to diesels I have no idea if the fuel has gone bad or how to determine if it is bad.
Is there a way to determine if its bad or should I just pump it out.
I can't see a problem we are in Canada and we lay up for 6 months full of fuel

The diesel fuel in my boat was two years old and it ran fine during a 7 day trip to its new slip.
I know that's a one-off example but it did seem just fine.

I mistakenly switched my port engine to an empty tank. Took about 4 hours but I ran it dry. All I had was a jug of 6 year old diesel. Used it to fill the Raycor and primary. After purging the air she started right up and ran fine.
