My 40hp e-tech Evinrude is higher thrust than that. It has a 2.67-1 gear and swings a prop almost that big.
+1 :iagree: Love my 40HP E-tec!

Question: Yamaha 9.9 hi thrust is 2:33-1 It is designed as a work boat motor. Why would you have one for high speed or am I missing something? I know for sure that on a 16 foot Lund, a 9.9 hi thrust will not do much as to speed, actually is a dog, but will pull a firewood log off a moderate sloped beach in a heartbeat.
9.9 Yamaha is about equivalent to a 15 hp standard gear ratio in developed pull power.
I guess I am asking if something is being presented in a reverse intended. Do you like these engines for power or speed?
Al
