Folks,

My 120v block heater is not heating. I don't want an oil pan heater of a 100 watt bulb. I want a new 120v block heater the kind that looks like a miniature water tank.

The last one died and I see them at Amazon for less that 100 bucks. Are these just junk?

Wondered if there are any that might last.

I recall from the past that "Kim Hotstart" used to be the go-to brand for block heaters.
That's probably where I would start.

Might I suggest an oil pan heater. They make a small heat pad type heater that’s about four inches square that sticks to the bottom of your pan. I’ve used them on our boats as well as our cars. Your oil pan probable holds 12 plus quarts of oil and the block has several hundred pounds of iron to absorb the heat. I use a 50 watt heater on our Ford Lehman with great results! These heaters work very well, I cycled mine with a timer. By the way I’m speaking from experience after living in Alaska for 33 years. This type of heater is very inexpensive, safe and easy to install!
