Get over the "efficiency" thing ... if an engine burns 7 gph at its most efficient point but that point is nowhere near what you want or need then a less "efficient" engine or the same engine burning 3 gph while doing what you need or want is a no brainer in my book.

I've always thought that the "efficiency" thing was over done. There are so many other considerations that should be attended to without worrying about how efficient your engine is. Stop & think about what's really important to your safety and enjoyment to your boating pursuits & efficiency is close to the bottom of the list.

Maybe the "other considerations" are so great that if the efficiency isn't good no cruising can be done.

I basically resemble that.
