My friend has a Volvo TAMD60C with an occasional drop of fuel at the bottom of the injection pump. Everything I can get to is tight. There is no evidence of the leak on the visible side of the pump. Is there anything on the back side that might leak? Parts drawings show a cover plate on the bottom with a seal. Is that an area of concern? Thanks for any help.

Check the pressure reg. which is mounted on the side of the Inj. Pump in between the Eng. block, its a bit hard to get at but these can leak or come loose at times, you will need a very thin open ended spanner to get between the Diaphragm body and pump to reach the hex nut, check for tightness if loose nip it up or if tight remove and check the dia. body for a leak etc. replace if required.

Those fittings are supposed to be assembled dry. Take the fittings apart and blast them with brake clean, then re assemble.

Wrap the suspect area as tight as possible with an oil absorbent daiper, tape it on if necessary, run the motor, then carefully remove the daiper. The stain should tell you where the leak originates.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We'll see what we can find.
