Hello, new to boat life. Our engine belt in our 1999 mainship trawler 390 is going bad and im unsure of where to purchase a new one/how to install. Does anyone have advice? Thanks.

Yep, take old one to Napa or other old skool auto store. Not Autozone. Get a name brand like Gates or Dayco, don't skimp.

Gathering that you have a six cyl Yanmar. They are fine engines, but have earned a rep as belt eaters.

Keep spares (one new, one old is fine) on the boat and the tools to change it.

I put gates green stripe belts on my Yanmar 6LYA-ste engines, no more belt dust like I had with the Yanmar OEM belts.Gates 9540 HD is the part number I used.
Best
Eric
