Ample Smart Alternator Regulator V2 - Need Manual

Looking for a manual or some description of the connections used on an Ample Power Smart Alternator Regulator V2. This is a 20+ year old product, and the manufacturer doesn't seem to have any interest in getting a copy for me.

Anyone have one they could scan in, photocopy or at least send pictures of?

I have one

Actually my Ample Power "Smart" regulator just died a couple of days ago. I plan to replace it with something else, maybe from Sterling Power. I will be glad to scan the manual for you, but I am now on my boat and will not return to civilization until mid August. I will do it when I return.

You won't be disappointed with the Sterling unit.

Capt Tom,
it must be some weird happening.. our old old Ample reg. also quit last week at the start of our San Juan's cruise..had to run the gen set full time while underway. I got lucky when I got home, my neighbor (also a boat guy) had a brand new .. never used Balmar ARS-4 in his stash of extra boat parts. Was telling him about the thing quitting over beers in his barn and he pulls it out of a drawer and gifted it to my boating cause.

I installed it in about 30 minutes and all is now good in the world again. I need to drop off a case of fermented beverage to help with his skills on the airplane he is building in his barn

I do have the old ample info on the boat and can send it along if you need it.. what are you trying to find out? the terminal wiring?

Steve and Hollywood, thank you!!!

We are talking about the V2 manual, correct? The V3 manual is available on line, but the connections are different.

Yes, I'm first and foremost looking for the terminal wiring, but ideally I'd like to see the whole thing. I'll PM you both with my snail- and e-mail addresses, I'd appreciate seeing the manual whichever way is easier for you to send it.

I know I can buy a new regulator, but I want to see if I can get the one I've got working, first. The story is, I have two perfectly good 40A alternators with internal regulators already installed and working fine. I picked up a used 100A alternator along with the Ample regulator. I'd love to upgrade, which would allow one of the mains to charge the house bank faster. But it's not really enough of a priority to buy a new regulator right now.

Hi, C Lectric. I am new to the forum and the Ample Power V2 smart regulator is what has brought me here. Would you by chance still have the PDF manual for the V2 smart regulator? If so, my email is mjvaughan4@gmail.com. Thank you!
