So we are on a month long trip up to New England and it looks like a muffler has developed a leak. At least that’s what I think it is. The engine is a 1988 3208TA 375 HP. It was a large can after the turbo that I assume is the muffler? It leads out after that to the exhaust. My first clue!!! The boat is a Ocean Alexander.

Tried to find a replacement but am having issues. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.

Is it fiberglass? If so maybe just patch it.

I believe we are actually talking about a stainless steel mixing elbow. It should be easily repaired by a welding shop.

Thanks

I believe that it is just a can muffler. Thanks for reply’s I will check but I think it will have to be just taken off and fixed when we get home.

Thanks for the help!!!

The can is very simple. There is no magic inside with just an input and an output in a fiberglass can. If you plan on patching it make sure you clean it well on the outside to remove any contaminates so that your patch will hold.

Ventus also makes marine mufflers:
