2003 Mainship Motor Mounts?
Need some help,
We just took possession a 2003 Mainship 400 with a 3126 Cat. The motor mounts need to be replaced. The existing motor mounts are Yanmar Mounts. Is it possible that these are the original motor mounts? The documentation that came with the vessel only lists the Caterpillar plates that the motor mounts would attach to.
I tried to attach a pic but can't figure out how.
Thanks
Peter

Yanmar used a lot of Barry Control motor mounts. Engine manufacturers do not make mounts, they source them from mount manufacturers. This is one of many sources for Barry Mounts

Another good engine mount for these size engines would be "Cushyfloat." When switching brands height of the mount is the biggest consideration. As close to same same as possible will make replacement easier. Cushy Float provide good performance and are very reasonably priced. They are OEM on many engines including Volvo. Nice thing about them is that they are available with detached stud. This means you only have to jack the engine a fraction of an inch, sawsall the old mount stud, slide the old mount out, the new one in, and thread the new stud in from above. You won't have to disconnect anything with this method. This is a good source:

As a rule motor mounts are durable and can last decades, also as a rule they will degrade performance over time and stop isolating as intended after a decade. The degradation happens so slowly over so long a time it often goes unnoticed. Rubber mounts are susceptible to damage from oil or fuel, so the mount under the injection pump usually fails first. Marine Mounts that take thrust like your boat are designed with "positive capture" so even if the rubber fails entirely the engine will not drive through the forward engine room bulkhead.

I would suggest buying from any source other than Yanmar or CAT. Same mount from an Independent Distributor for much much less
