Survey haul outs can involve a lot of risks, so ..
(1) who schedules the haul out during a survey?
(2) who manages the liability issues?
(3) when damages to the vessel happen during any time under a haul out, what happens next?

1. Buyer usually but he needs to coordinate with the seller.

2. Seller and the boat yard.

3. You call your insurance company. (Also a broad question. It depends on who screwed up and how badly.)

During a haul out on a boat of ours, the rear strap broke on the travel lift dropping the boat 2’ on pavement. We called our insurance company who sent out a surveyor. My insurance company paid for all the repairs ($66K) then subrogated against the boat yards insurance company.

Do the survey at yard where if if passes leave it out of water to do any maintenance, save a haulout.
