Cruising South Puget Sound
We spent the past week cruising South Puget Sound and ended up staying in Jarrell Cove for 6 days just relaxing. Very quiet, nice docks with power, trails and an interesting bus ride into the town of Shelton....
On the way back to Vashon we stopped in Longbranch and were the only people on the docks. Great relaxing week with very few other boats out and about.
Nice area to cruise!

Keith,
We enjoyed our trip down south but missed those two places. Good for next time.
I'm wondering what your next boat will be .. if there is one.
Food looks like ours.

There will be another boat! To be determined, most likely an Albin!

Jarrel's Cove is a nice spot. Dock or mooring, it is reasonably quiet and a good representative of a South Puget Sound small harbor. There is fuel and a few necessaries across the way from the Park at the Jarrell's Cove marina. Definitely a no-frills place as is typical.
I've never taken the bus from there. That give me something to keep in mind for the future.
South Sound is a great place to go, and this time of year it is empty since many folks are up here in BC with me.

South Sound is great in the winter. Check out Fair Harbor up by Grapeview. No services, though.

Kieth,
I looked at an Albin 42 before I decided on this Ocean Alexander 40.
Let's continue this on another thread. General Trawler.

Keith, something just clicked with me as I was rereading these posts. If you're looking for an Albin, this one is for sale in the slip next to me. Nice boat.

GFC, thanks, but we are headed the other direction to a smaller Pocket Trawler. We started this journey in an A25 and might just go back to that. But first, this one has to be sold, I am not going to do the two boat ownership again..... 😄
The one next to you looks nice but the wrong size.

You will have to wait for a new owner to come along. Fair Harbor is closed until a new owner reopens it. Friends are down that way this week and just reported that to us. Oh well, there are other spots. We really like south sound and get down there at least once a year (most years).

Thanks Marty,
We had heard that from the owner of Jarrell's Cove Marina. Kind of sad but also somewhat understandable. I can only imagine how difficult it is to run a small marina.
