nice to see we aren't the only ones with a 10 year timeline! we plan to put the for sale sign in the front yard as soon as the youngest heads to college in 7 years and live aboard full time until I can pull the retirement trigger a few years after that.

i plan to get my captains license down the road too, but agree with the other comments that all the days on the water and classes in the interim will be where you learn the important stuff.

Cannot recommend enough the idea of spending time on the water with an experienced captain. I learned more in a week last year bringing the boat home with someone experienced than all my time on the water in my fishing boat before then.
