I am a new trawler owner defecting from the sailing group although my previous boat is a small 26ft trailer sailor a macgregor 26x but it has served me and my kids well through the years all over the keys....however my children are older and bigger now and there just isnt the space for us to take month long trips in it anymore so I found what I believe to be a fairly decent deal on a 1981 cym 39' trawler with a single 120hp lehman 400gal diesel tanks and 400 gal water tanks which should if all goes well give us the much needed room and water capacity and fuel range (they claim 1600 mile range) for trips to dry tortugas and exumas which is what we want.....only paid 17500 for it and survey done in April looked fairly good so keeping my fingers crossed this will turn out to be a good deal

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on the new boat. It looks to be in good shape. Hope it works well for you and your family.

Welcome to Trawler Forum. The boats looks pretty clean.

Ty I (knock on wood) feel like I got a pretty good deal on it....i bought it on ebay sight unseen having only seen a survey done in April....well we just took the boat out for 2 weeks and yeah it all seems to check out ... it runs great no leaks ...previous owners left a lot of crap and spare wood they called trim on the boat and I dont believe they were being honest when they said the hull had been cleaned 2 months prior as it had hundreds of oysters living on it which the marina was not real happy to have had to scrape off prior to pressure washing it....BUT I camt complain as the boat as a whole is a great running boat interior fairly clean and has huge tanks 400 gal diesel and 400 water for just 17k ....I feel I found a pretty good bargain ebay trawler and very happy with it so far ....now just onto the maintenance to make sure the lehman runs for as long as I can get out of her

Looks like a lotta boat for what you paid!! Good luck as you investigate what needs to be done to bring it up to snuff.

Looks like you got a great deal. Looks like a great boat for exploring (and a good platform for tinkering and uogrades!)

Congrats!

Welcome to the dark side!!

It looks to be a pretty good boat. Price is definitely right and you can't beat those F.L.s. How many hours on it?

Prior to using it much I would change all the fuel filters and maybe have the fuel checked or polished. Always carry extra filters.

If it doesn't leak at the windows or through the deck you have a good one. And if the fuel tanks look good and sample out OK all the better. Bad steel fuel tanks are the huge issue on these older trawlers.

Welcome Aboard.
