After several years without a boat, my wife and I are finally going to start the search for a new-to-us boat. We had a 38' sail boat and enjoyed sailing very much however after an eye surgery I decided sailing was not going to be an option. Fortunately my vision has improved with another surgery and we have decided to get back into boating, but not a sail boat. We have always loved the Grand Bank 42' Classic boats and that is what we will be looking for. We live in the Houston, Tx area and enjoy the Galveston Bay area and Texas coast.
We have 3 miniature dachshunds so any advise on dogs on trawlers will be helpful.
My name is Tom and my wife's name is Lynn. Look forward to participating in this site.

Welcome aboard. Good luck in your search. Get life jackets for the dogs and get them to the point of liking to wear them, treats help. Train them to go on a piece of astro turf with a pee pad under it. A grommet in the turf and you can attach a small line to dunk it in the water to wash off the pee.

Thanks Comodave, yes life jackets for sure. And the Astro turf is what I figured would work. I just have to get one of them to pee on it and the others will follow. The marinas here don't use mooring balls so have to find a slip when we get a boat. We had our sailboat in a slip and enjoyed the marina so we'll probably try to get back into that marina.

I started our dog with the astro turf at home. Then took a piece of it to the boat with the pee smell on it. He still usually just holds it until we get to a marina, then he is in a hurry!

Welcome Tom! Good luck on finding your next boat, GB 42 is a nice setup.
