New and learning

Just stated looking for a boat first one and like the looks of the Camano 31 Troll
Everything I have read is positive.
Will start out on a big lake in the Okanagan for a couple of years then move to the West Coast to explore in semi and full retirement.
Should I just buy a lake boat and then upgrade or is it best to get comfortable with the boat before setting off in the ocean ( inside protected waters) ?

Thanks

I owned a Camano 31 troll for 4 years they are excellent boats, well made fun to use and have some speed if you want to use it. No exterior woodwork!
