Greetings,

I have just joined this, my first, forum. My wife and I would like to purchase a trawler and relocate to the Caribbean. We plan to live aboard. We both grew up boating; she on lakes, me sailing off New England coast. We currently own a small center console for coastal recreational use. Obviously, this will be a significant change for us. My biggest concern is hurricane season. Since this will be our home I'd like to motor away from such weather not ride it out. I will check out this forum for useful information and gladly accept any advice.

Welcome.

There are a few here with trawlers who have lived/cruised in the Caribbean. Larry M and Sealife come to mind on their stabilized Krogen 42s. Most Caribbean boat are sailboats due to the windy conditions, from what I read.

This was an interesting read IMO on cruising the Caribbean. Bruce eventually transitioned to a kind of a trawler.
