Michigan Newbie

Howdy just registered and looks to be a great site. I'm a Traverse City MI resident and the proud owner of a Rosborough 246 RF. Mostly a day tripper but will start venturing for overnights soon!

Welcome aboard!

We are ex-Great Lakes boaters and used to keep a 38' trawler at Onekama. Kind of thinking about going back. We loved the unsalted waters and beautiful scenery.

Great to have another Great Lakes boater here! We're on Superior and spend time cruising the Upper Peninsula.

Welcome aboard!

It's amazingly beautiful. We've been cruising on an express cruiser, but we're selling it next spring. We need something with longer range for the kind of cruising we want to do. Eye on 40-45' Sedan cruisers right now.

We bounce around northwest Michigan during summer months. Is Edie Aylsworth still the harbor master at Sutton's Bay?

Welcome to boating on the Great Lakes. No salt and no sharks. One third of all the fresh water in the world. Come south to Grand Haven and Spring Lake sometime soon.

Yes, she is. We met her over a decade ago when she was hanging out with friends on her father's Fleming, which was slipped next to us. Think that boat is now in Traverse City. We also got to know two very nice gents who have a 30 something Carver at Sutton's Bay...Jason and Craig. Great marina and town.

That's great! You need to check out "transitioning newbie" by chrisv. They've just made the move to an Albin 36 that will eventually be cruising Lake Michigan. They've spent some time in Northport, not too far from you, aboard a Cape Dory 36 in years past.

Hi, Dogwood, Chrisv here. Yes, our home port is in St. Joseph, Mi. We just bought an Albin 36 in Sodus Point, NY. We will be storing her in Sodus Point for the winter then bringing her back to Lake Michigan next summer via the Trent-Severn waterway. We are old sailors, but loving the trawler life we have experienced so far (just s couple of weeks). This site has been great in helping us get acquainted with other trawler owners and helping us deal with our questions and fears. Welcome to the TF!
