Fit (relatively) 64. Wanted to do this since I was in my 20's. Wives did not.
Divorced for 6 years, and feel like it's the right time. Have done some work with fiberglass, home renovation type wood repairs, minor wiring, decent mechanic al (not combustion) skills.

Zero knowledge of diesel engines, except sitting on top of a tractor. I Had Boston Whalers from 1970-2011. "Biggest" boat  was '86 18' Outrage.

I don't plan ANY close quarters maneuvering until I get proficient.
Living aboard in Jersey City, on a boat capable of making the trip to Cape Cod and back, is my first goal.

Welcome out of the shadows!

Very doable goal. Just takes time, money, patience. Rewards are worth it. Though I was closer to 30 at the time, that's pretty close to how I started and landed on a 42 foot motoryacht.

Feel free to paint the picture of what you're looking for. Knowledgeable crowd here are generous with their time.

Peter

PS - if you're not already aware, active thread with similar OP. Might be interesting.

Having multiple wives, I would guess it's nearly impossible to keep them all happy!
