Just sold our house in Iowa, headed south...

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

We are Larry and Beth, maybe retired in the next year or two. But, until then we will be working remotely and traveling for business.

That means, that we can live anywhere that is near a regional airport.

The house sold last week, and the plan is to move on to a liveaboard boat until actual retirement, then heading out! Americas Great Loop? The Bahamas? Who knows.

We plan on installing Starlink for internet access.

As of June 20, 2022, we will be homeless and boatless!

Let the adventure begin!!!

Your timing is excellent. If I were in your shoes, I'd either stay with friends or AirBnB for a few months in the hope boat market improves. Who knows if it will, but that would be my bet (articles below)

Good luck. I look forward to updates.

Peter

EDIT: if you're open to a trawler and seeking a decent deal, this one piqued my interest. Seller is one of TFs knowledgeable contributors. Seems like a lot of boat for the price. I have no connection whatsoever.

Wifey B: Well, if I was going to be homeless, I'd definitely choose a warm climate. Of course, South Florida (Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami Dade) is Paradise. :)

Thanks for the links. Looks like we may have sold at the peak of the housing market, now we just need to wait for the trough in the boat market. With fuel prices still heading up, and market uncertainty, I'm hoping that we can find a decent Bayliner 4588/4788 for a reasonable price. (A dixie cup in the wind...? LOL)

Keep an eye out for posts from TF member KSanders. He's currently enroute from SE Alaska to La Paz MX (something well in excess of 2000 nms) on his Bayliner 4788. He too just retired and is traveling single-handed. DIxie cup or not, he seems to be getting 'er done!

Here's his most recent thread.
