I should have done this a while back...
Hey all, I began posting a while back so my apologies for not doing an intro first. As my name suggests I am an Aussie now residing in TX and loving it. The opportunities here for both work and recreation (not to mention finding my wife !) are amazing...and I recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a boat big enough to travel with...I have had fishing boats and craft big enough to weekend on before however this time we went big...due mainly to boats of this size being soooo much cheaper here than in Oz. So, hey all, and thankyou for the opportunity to gain from your wisdom and experience...

G'day and welcome to the Forum. I see that your boat is a custom 47'. Post some photos when you can......always looking for those unusual vessels.

I will most likely leave it down around the Rockport/Port A area somewhere, I am not a fan of where it is currently moored however so a move is necessary cos we are planning on spending a lot of time aboard her...even if we dont even leave the berth...

Welcome Craig, sounds like we are doing the same thing... I bought my boat last Sept, I have been out of the country since, but will be back home in San Antonio in a week or so. Currently the boat is in New Orleans, I will move it to Corpus as soon as I can.

It does sound that way doesnt it ? We should keep in touch, perhaps we shall meet up on the water one day soon...and New Orleans is on our list of places to cruise to as well...

Thanks Bruce ! Well, the Aussie connection...I have a rather varied work history, when I first left high school I did an auto mechanics apprenticeship and hated it so became a welder...and then discovered a short attention span, difficulty with authority and becoming quickly bored I had 34 different jobs over the following years...and I do mean different, as in different types of work - security, making wooden pallets, storeman, driver...the list goes on. Then, to cut a long story short, I went back to school as a mature age student and ended up with a masters in psychology and a bachelors in counselling (therapy) and worked in Aussie jails for many years. I specialised in violent offenders and addiction stuff. Then a friend asked me if I wanted to do some work overseas...again to cut a long story short I worked in 19 different countries creating and delivering management training for oil and gas companies...till I came to TX and met my wife. After I fell in love with her I fell in love with the USA, especially TX and Louisiana, I love the laid back attitude...not to mention the fishing and hunting are worlds better, you can still own guns here (so far) and not only boats but most everything is cheaper in the States. Last I heard gas was $7.50 + a gallon in Oz....
So, that's me in a nutshell..and the ride ain't over yet as they say...and your good self ? Whats the Bruce story ?
