Hello everyone!

My name is Brian. I currently live in Castle Rock (just south of Denver), Colorado. No much water around here. I've been lake boating for more than 20 years. It's now time to make the switch to big water and bigger boats. I'm hoping the forum can help me learn what I need to know to keep me out of trouble!

Welcome aboard. Nothing wrong with living away from the oceans, we lived in Tucson for 30 years.

Welcome.

Have you decided where you want to have the boat and what type and size?

Welcome - One of the main reasons we left Broomfield CO was the lack of big water. Where are you thinking about boating?

At the moment, we are thinking Florida and a trawler. Because we are in the early stages we are keeping an open mind. What type of boating do you do and how do you like your Pilothouse?

We are on the gulf coast of Florida and do a ton of boating. We have 2 Boston Whalers that we cruise, go for dinner, sand bar and fish from. We just bought the North Pacific Trawler and will spend weeks / months aboard her cruising all over Florida, the eastern seaboard and the Bahamas. We have been boating on the ocean for many years, but just got back into a trawler.

There are great people here with a wealth of knowledge to share.

Cheers!

Greetings,
Welcome aboard, Brian. "... to keep me out of trouble! " Hahaha...Too late. You're looking at boats so you are already in trouble.

Sounds like you are doing exactly what I envision for us. How would you feel about connecting outside the forum? I sure would love to pick your brain!

And welcome, Brian! I know we all can certainly help you get into trouble. Sometimes we even help folks out of it. The trawler experience definitely takes a bit of willingness to stick with it as you transition. If you are a bit handy and even willing to break some of the less expensive bits and pieces, you can enter into what I laughingly refer to as "affordable boating." However, if you are a checkbook boater, God love you, because there are plenty of boating support types out there who need the money. Remember, BOAT stands for "break out another thousand" or a BU, boat unit.

Many refer to what we do as "boat repair in exotic places"

I'm in Sarasota.

Nice place. Be sure and let us know if you ever elect to head up to God's County.
