Hello from Auckland NZ

Starting out as a new member.
We are long term yachties but moved to the Dark Side recently. We now have a Beneteau ST42 Swift Trawler which suits us just fine for pottering around the North East section of the New Zealand coast. We look forward to learning from the experience of the trawler community.

Welcome aboard from another ex-Kiwi and ex-yachtie - although all the US folk on here only know those as sail boaters...

We had a Tasman 20, the Gazelle 26 trailer yachts, the latter we brought over to Brisbane 27 years ago, then later moved up through a Resort (Cuddles) 35 diesel cruiser to the current vessel, we have had now for 14 years. (Avatar)

Wow would I love to have access to the Hauraki Gulf, Bay of Islands, (we cruised there once in the Gazelle) and beyond in a Beneteau Swift 42. Great coastal vessel. Happy travels. Please post pics asap. See the how-to stickies re that. Sing out if in trouble.

Beneteau ST42 in NZ

Many thanks for the response folks and the offer to help.
I would like to be able to edit my profile and add a picture of Florence. Any tips on how to do this would be much appreciated. Cheers David

Gaston...go wash your mouth out asap. You naughty man you.

David, go into your User CP (= control panel), up top left of most screens, then scroll down to the appropriate spot for editing whatever - it's pretty user friendly and obvious there, and just follow the prompts. Please also take the time to complete a brief profile of yourself (or selves).

To post pics on the forum posts, if your pics are off computer on say Flickr, Dropbox, whatever, then you click on the little yellow mountain icon at top of posting screen which lights up as "add an image' or similar, and a window pops up to place the URL of you photo's stored location in it, and then follow the prompts.

If posting pics already on the same computer, make sure you go into advanced post mode, not the quick reply, scroll down to manage attachments, click in 'choose an image' and browse to your desired photos and select the ones you want, following same procedure. You can post several at a time. Make sure you wait until they have completed their upload when you select that button - it sometimes takes a bit of time - then go down and click on 'close window', at the bottom of the upload screen, then finally select 'submit reply', and you're done.

Go the Blacks. Sorry Gaston, but he Wallies are just not up there again yet, but hey, they beat the Pumas.

Thanks to our Australian friends for contributing. I have now managed to edit the profile. Also found interesting thread for Beneteau ST42 which I will delve in to. Cheers

Hi David, welcome to the forum. I have been here for some time but boatless. We have however, just bought a Nimbus 380 commander (Swedish) which is about to leave Northern Ireland. She is coming by road/sea/road to Gulf Harbour. Our objective is the same as your's and Gulf Harbour is fairly central to the Tauranga to Whangaroa cruising grounds. Cruising with a little "pot" fishing/diving in our retirement and periods of being cruisaboards is our plan.
If you see "Nordic Blue" anytime in your travels come over and say hullo. Grae

Hi Dave, your swift is a great looking and very liveable vessel perfectly suited to her intended role. Like your taste in colour!
Will you be at the Auckland On Water Boat Show? Looks to be some interesting exhibitors this year.

Good Morning Grae and great to hear from you. We live at Maraetai Beach and Florence resides at Pine Harbour Marina when not out on the briny.
Yes, I intend going to the Boat Show on Thursday, going on the 09.05 ferry from Pine Harbour. Would be good to meet you and maybe share a pint of Guinness at Danny Doolan's. My Mobile is 0274 746892.
Cheers
