Grand Banks

I am interested in purchasing a Grand Banks 42 trawler. I notice a design change between the 1987 and 1988 and forward configuration. It looks as if they reduced the sides of the master stateroom and moved the entire salon galley and command bridge forward. This eliminated a third stateroom/ bunk below, reduced the size of the fordeck “lounge” space and created a wide aft deck area level with the main deck.
How did this change affect the center of gravity and performance/ handling of the boat?
Also any ideas on the reason for the changes?

Grand Banks changed molds in the mid 80’s. The molds were made a little longer and a little wider adding more living space. You can fins more info on the GB owners forum. International Association of Grand Banks Owners - International Association of Grand Banks Owners Forum Index
